Tik Tok = No Sleep

If you want to fall asleep, you shouldn't use Tik Tok before your head hits the pillow or you may be staring at the ceiling instead of going to dreamland. There's a new report that says the social media app may be keeping you from getting a good night’s sleep. It looks like Tik Tok is the one that will keep you awake the most.

First, the blue light emitted from phones can cause sleep issues no matter what you're scrolling, and this study says after scrolling through TikTok it takes users one hour and seven minutes to fall asleep, longer than most social media. Tik Tokkers only spend 14% of their sleep cycle in REM sleep, half the recommended amount for a healthy adult.

Here's the rundown for other social media:

Instagram users take 58 minutes to fall asleep and spend 15.5% off the night in REM sleep. Snapchat users take 56 minutes to fall asleep and spend 16% off the night in REM sleep. Twitter users take 50 minutes to fall asleep and spend 18% off the night in REM sleep. Facebook users take 45 minutes to fall asleep and spend 19.5% off the night in REM sleep.  And those who don’t use their devices before bedtime spend 23% of their sleep cycle in REM sleep. There are a lot of bleary eyed people out there. Sweet dreams.
