Lipari Foods recalled their "14-ounce packages of JLM Branded Dark Chocolate Nonpareils food treats" on Friday (June 20) due to the undeclared presence of a common allergen.
According to the United States Food & Drug Administration, the recalled product, distributed to retail stores nationwide (including those in Pennsylvania), contains "undeclared milk" which poses the risk of a "serious or life-threatening allergic reaction" to individuals allergic to the ingredient not listed on the product labels.
Consumers should avoid JLM Branded Dark Chocolate Nonpareils with Lot Numbers 28202501A, 29202501A, 23202504A, 14202505A, 15202505A, and 03202506A. This information can be found on the bottom label of the clear, plastic tub.
So far, there have been no complaints of allergic reactions reported as a result of consuming the mislabeled Dark Chocolate Nonpareils. Officials are urging consumers who have already purchased the recalled product to return it to the place it was purchased for a full refund if they are allergic to milk.
